Navigating within the Translation

When you play back a master clip or subclip in the Asset Editor's Media Viewer or position the playhead in the Asset Editor's timeline, segments in the translation will follow the spoken word in the clip.

Note the following when navigating the translation:

  • If the Sync Playhead toggle button is selected (blue button, default), during playback in the Asset Editor's Media Viewer or when you position the playhead in the timeline, the segment that contains the corresponding word is highlighted in green in the Translation area.

Vice versa, when you select a segment in the Translation area, the playhead in the Asset Editor's Media Viewer is positioned to the start timecode of the segment.

  • If the Sync Playhead toggle button is deselected (gray), during playback in the Asset Editor's Media Viewer, corresponding segments are not highlighted in the Translation area. Selecting a segment in the Translation area does not move the playhead in the Asset Editor's Media Viewer.

  • When you enable the Edit Mode button to edit the translation, Sync Playhead is deactivated.

To navigate the translation:

  1. Open an asset in the Asset Editor.

  2. Open the Transcript tab.

The Transcript tab opens in Transcript mode.

  3. Click the Translation button to switch to Translation mode.

  4. (optional) Click the Orientation menu in the Asset Editor toolbar and select the dual column view.

  5. Select a transcript from the transcript selection control.

  6. Select the translation which you want to view from the translation selection control.

  7. To navigate with enabled synchronization:

    1. (if inactive) Activate the Sync Playhead button.

    2. Start playback or move the playhead in the timeline.

      • The segment that contains the currently spoken word is highlighted in green in the Translation area. While playback continues, playhead and highlighting update in tandem, the Translation area scrolls down the list of translation segments.

      • When the position is between two segments (gap), the left segment is highlighted in the Transcript tab.

    3. Click on a segment in the Transcript tab.

The entire segment is highlighted in green and the playhead is moved to the start timecode of the segment in the timeline.

  8. To navigate with disabled synchronization

    1. Deactivate the Sync Playhead button so it turns gray.

    2. Start playback or move the playhead in the timeline.

No segments are highlighted in the Translation area.

    3. Click on a segment in the Translation area.

Neither the video in the Asset Editor nor the playhead in the timeline is updated.
