Working with the Wolftech App
The Wolftech app allows you to access the cloud-based Wolftech News story-centric workflow management system. From conception to publication, Wolftech News enables you to create, manage, and track pitches, stories, assets, people, and more — through an easy to use and centralized user interface.
You can also take Wolftech with you on the road with the Wolftech News mobile app — Wolftech Go, available for both iOS and Android. This app empowers users to contribute to news-gathering and story planning workflows, working seamlessly and efficiently with users at your organization's base of operations.
This chapter provides information on how you can interact with Wolftech News through other areas of MediaCentral Cloud UX. For detailed information on how to use the Wolftech app and administer the Wolftech News system, see the Wolftech News documentation under the Wolftech app's User menu.
For more information, see any of the following topics:
-
You can save the position of the Wolftech app as part of a layout.

Create Automated Workflows
The Rules Editor app allows system administrators to define rules that trigger actions on available events in MediaCentral Cloud UX, such as auto-publication of assets to one or more social media outlets. For more information on creating these automated workflows, see "Using the Rules Editor App" in the Avid MediaCentral | Cloud UX Installation Guide.
n This release does not include any integration between Wolftech and the Browse app.
n Although the Dock button is visible in the upper-right corner of the app, the ability to dock the Wolftech app is disabled.
Signing In to the Wolftech App
After you sign into MediaCentral Cloud UX and select the Wolftech app, the system authenticates your credentials against the SSO provider configured in Wolftech News. For this authentication to be successful, your administrator must ensure that both MediaCentral Cloud UX and Wolftech News connect to the same authentication provider. The app might display a loading symbol as the connection to Wolftech News is made. Be patient as this process can take a few moments.
n Avid does not support using two different authentication providers (for example one provider for MediaCentral Cloud UX and a different provider for Wolftech News).
Enabling Third Party Cookies
If your web browser is configured to block third-party cookies, then your login to the Wolftech News system might fail. However, you can re-enable the cookies through your browser.
Before you re-enable cookies, you should contact your local IT department to ensure your organization does not have any policies around this setting. For more information, see Chrome's online support at https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/61416.
Searching for Wolftech News Assets
You can use the Search app to locate assets in the Wolftech News system. The Asset Type list in the Search app sidebar includes the following Wolftech asset types:
-
Story — You might consider a story to be the top-level concept around which your story-centric workflow is designed. From here you can add bookings (resources) or media assets, track the Greenlight status, add publishing output (such as a social media outlet or a Newsroom Management rundowns), and more. Alternatively, you could create an event that links multiple stories together to form a larger concept.
-
Event — You might create an event if you are planning for a future, potentially date-driven topic – such as a sporting event, election, or other. You can associate one or more stories with an event.
-
Pitch — A pitch is often an early concept for a story. After review or further development, you can convert the pitch to an official story.
-
Publishing Output — After creating a story, you might need to create different versions (also known as publishing outputs in Wolftech News) to publish that story to an internal or external destination. Example publishing outputs include Newsroom Management stories, social media posts, email newsletters, podcasts, and more.
You can also use the System filter in the sidebar to limit your search to show Wolftech News assets only.
MediaCentral Search respects the user permissions that are configured within Wolftech News. The Search app does not return assets for which the user does not have permission to view or use.
For additional information on the Search app, see Using the Search App.

Adding MediaCentral Assets to the Wolftech App
Similar to other MediaCentral workflows, you can add MediaCentral Production Management and Asset Management assets to a Wolftech pitch, story, or event.
To add the MediaCentral asset to Wolftech News:
-
Select the Wolftech app and open your pitch, story, or event.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Drag and drop a single asset to the Wolftech app.
-
Shift+click or Ctrl+click multiple assets to drag and drop them all to Wolftech News in a single action.
-
You can drag the asset to anywhere in the Wolftech app. When you drop the asset, it appears in the Media tab of the currently selected Wolftech entity.
If you single-click a MediaCentral asset from within the Wolftech app, the asset opens in either the assigned default app, or the Asset Editor. Some Wolftech pitches, stories, or events might include media that did not originate from a MediaCentral system. These assets are not supported for playback in the Asset Editor.
