Creating the Initial Summary for a Transcript

To create the initial summary for a transcript, proceed as follows.

c You can start summary creation for a master clip but also from a subclip. Triggering the summary creation from a subclip will not affect the summary of the master clip.

To create the initial summary:

1. Open an asset in the Transcript tab.

2. Select the transcript from the Transcript selection control.

3. Click the Summary button to switch to Summary mode.

   

   If the transcript has no summary, the "There is no summary yet" message is shown.

   Only for users of a group that has the entitlement Avid AI Summary RW Access assigned, additionally "You can generate a summary for the selected transcription" and a Create Summary button are shown.

4. Click the Create Summary button.

   The Summary dialog box opens. For a master clip and subclip, the following is shown:

   

5. Do not change the transcript that is already selected in the Transcript list.

6. Click the Create button.

   The dialog box is closed and the summary creation job is triggered. The Transcript tab shows a "Summary in progress" message.
   

   

   If the summary creation cannot be triggered, a "Failed to create summary" error message is shown and the Create dialog box is not closed. Click Cancel to close the dialog box.

7. (optional) Open the Process app and monitor the summary creation job. See Monitoring Transcribe, Translate and Summarize Jobs in the Process App.

8. Wait until the summary is shown.

   • Once the summarize job has completed, the Summary view display auto-refreshes and the summary is shown.

   • If the summarize job fails before completion, the Summary in progress message will be replaced by the Summary failed message.
