Viewing a Transcript

When you open an asset in the Transcript tab, you see the transcript selected in the transcript selection control. You can view and edit the transcript.

When you open a subclip in the Transcript tab, the subclip-related transcript parts of the underlying masterclip are shown.

See the following topics:

In some cases, you will see the following instead of the transcript.

Reason/Action

“Your system is not licensed for this feature”

The STT feature pack is installed but the required license for using the Transcribe features is not activated. Contact your system administrator for assistance.

“Asset is not supported”

Open a supported asset type. Currently only Production Management master clips and subclips are supported.

"There is no transcript yet"

Consider triggering the transcript creation. See Creating a Transcript

"Transcription in progress"

Wait until the transcription job is completed.

For non-growing clips that are shorter than 1 hour, the fully created transcript will be shown. Once the transcribe job has completed, the Transcript tab display auto-refreshes and all transcript segments are automatically shown.

For growing (EWC) clips and or non-growing clips that are longer than 1 hour, the "Transcription in progress" message is replaced as soon as the first portion of the transcript is created.

You can monitor the job progress in the Process app. See Monitoring Transcribe Jobs in the Process App.

For transcription jobs submitted by you, you will receive a notification once the job is completed. Prerequisite: Sending notification has been enabled for the Process app in the User Settings > Notifications section. See Using Process App Notifications.

"Transcription failed"

Check the error message of the failed job in the Process app. For transcription jobs submitted by you, you will receive a notification once a job failed (if sending notifications is enabled).

"No speech found"

The audio track for which the transcript has been created does not contain spoken words.

"No speech found yet"

(EWC clip or non-growing clip that is longer than 1 hour) The audio track for which the transcript is being created does not contain spoken words.

<empty grid>

When the transcript is created for an EWC clip or a non-growing clip that is longer than 1 hour, an empty grid (means: only the Speaker and Transcript column headers) is shown for a short period of time before the first portions of the transcript are displayed.

The following messages are not displayed within in the Transcript tab but on the right side of the Fast bar and disappear after a short period of time.

Reason/Action

"The transcript creation is completed"

This message is only shown when the transcript creation for a growing (EWC) clip or a non-growing clip that is longer than 1 hour is finished. The message is not shown for non-growing clips that are shorter than 1 hour.

"The transcript creation failed"

(EWC clip or non-growing clip that is longer than 1 hour) This message is shown when the transcribe job fails before completion and portions of the transcript are already displayed in the Transcript tab. Transcript data is kept and can be edited.

The following message is shown as a tool-tip for a warning icon on the Transcript tab toolbar.

Reason/Action

"Transcript error: partial transcript only"

(EWC clip or non-growing clip that is longer than 1 hour) If the transcript can only be partially displayed – transcript creation failed while portions of the transcript have already been shown on the Transcript tab – a warning icon is shown between the transcript selector and Find filter control. The tool-tip reads "Transcript error: partial transcript only". Transcript data is kept and can be edited.

The following messages are not displayed within in the Transcript tab but are shown as a message when you use the Create Transcript App menu or context menu item in the Browse app or Search app and an error occurs. See Creating a Transcript from the Browse and Search App.

Reason/Action

"No audio tracks found"

The selected asset has no audio tracks, transcript creation is not possible.

"Failed to load asset info"

The request to get asset information from the backend failed.
